Photographs from 1971 to 1973
The following pages of photographs were taken by John Kilroy who was in South Georgia from November 1971 to March 1973 with the British Antarctic Survey. (BAS) There are a varied selection of images to be found on these pages, from superb shots of an albatross and another of a fur seal at King Edward Point, to a view of the floating dock from the mountains and one from the jetty at Grytviken. A group photograph and a shot in the lounge are shown on another page, two images of Shackleton's cross are on the next page and two images of regular ships that call in to the island are shown next. Two dynamic photographs taken from the helicopter are followed by a bleak shot of the barff and seals. The next page has two lovely pictures in black and white of Shackleton House. The last two pages have, on the first, two superb views of Ocean Harbour and King Edward's Cove, followed by two lovely black and white images of King Edward Point. Please use the underlined links above or the ones on the top left of the page for navigation. Many thanks to John for allowing me to use these images to share with others.
