Grytviken Whaling Museum

Pauline Carr, Emanuel Ofosu-Apeasa and Tim Carr in the museum shop in Grytviken.

Tim and Pauline arrived in South Georgia around eight years ago in their yacht "Curlew" and stayed on to run the museum. A lot of work has been done over the years to repair the old manager's house where the museum is set up. A large number of passenger ships visit King Edward Point and Grytviken and there are a lot of souvenir items to be purchased. Tim and Pauline also co-authored a large volume on South Georgia called "Antarctic Oasis" - Under The Spell Of South Georgia, both being accomplished photographers and writers. All the proceeds of the book are being used for the upkeep of the museum.

Emanuel was with us in his capacity of Salvage and Moorings Officer for the Ministry of Defence.
