Stromness
Stromness Harbour seen from the bay. This place was a whaling station till 1931 when it was converted into a huge repair yard with it's own workshops, machine shops and foundry. They claimed that they could virtually build a ship from scratch here, and having seen the comprehensive workshops and machinery, I would not dispute that claim. Notably absent is the flensing plan.
Part of the power generating plant. The plant was a mixture of steam and diesel driven DC generators. At Grytviken they also had water turbine driven generators.
