Reindeer
Eurasian Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) were imported to South Georgia between around 1910 and 1925 as a means to balance the fresh meat diet, also for sport. Three introductions were made. The two herds are separated by impassible mountains and are genetically different. There are around two thousand animals. Each whaling station also had it's own piggery.
